Ludwig Wilhelm Leopold Bogun , since 1827 Bogun von Wangenheim (born March 18, 1797 in Elbing , † October 11, 1865 in Potsdam ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

Wilhelms was the son of the Elbingen merchant Gottfried Bogun and his wife Regina Concordia, née von Wangenheim .

Military career

During the Wars of Liberation he came on December 31, 1813 as a volunteer in the III. Battalion of the 3rd East Prussian Infantry Regiment and fought in the siege of Danzig . On November 16, 1814 he was promoted to second lieutenant with a patent from May 15, 1814 and left the army four days later.

With the return of Napoleon he also returned to the army, on April 20, 1815 he was assigned to the 3rd East Prussian Landwehr Infantry Regiment. On September 6, 1816, he was aggregated to the 13th Infantry Regiment and assigned to February 6, 1817. From October 1, 1817 to June 30, 1820 he was assigned to the General War School. After his return, he was transferred to the 4th Pioneer Department of the 3rd Engineer Brigade on September 25, 1820, and assigned there on January 10, 1821. He was promoted to Prime Lieutenant on March 19, 1821 and at the same time appointed Adjutant of the 4th Pioneer Division. On March 30, 1822, he came to the fortification service in Cologne fortress , from there he was transferred to Jülich fortress on July 6, 1825 . On June 2, 1827, he was raised to the Prussian nobility under the name "Bogun von Wangenheim" . He came on April 6, 1831 as chief of the 1st company in the 4th pioneer department, where he was promoted to captain on June 22, 1832. The following year, on June 27, 1833, he joined the General Inspectorate of the Engineer and Pioneer Corps as second adjutant. Bogun was aggregated to the 3rd engineer inspection on November 26, 1839 and transferred to the adjutantage as a major on March 26, 1841 . Shortly thereafter, on October 18, 1841, he was transferred to the engineering department of the War Ministry and from the end of March 1842 he was also a member of the examination commission for captains II class and for prime lieutenants of the engineering corps. He was entrusted with the management of the business as head of the engineering department of the War Ministry on May 26, 1842 and confirmed on September 7, 1843. On September 5, 1848, he was transferred to the naval department as chief.

While maintaining his position, Bogun was transferred to the Reich Ministry of War in Frankfurt am Main on November 17, 1848 , where he headed the Ministry of the Navy . There he was promoted to lieutenant colonel on May 8, 1849 , and made available to the provisional federal commission on January 1, 1850. He was promoted to colonel on January 18, 1851 and aggregated to the staff of the engineering corps on December 2, 1853. On March 5, 1854, he was transferred as inspector to the 2nd engineer inspection and on July 13, 1854, he was promoted to major general . On the occasion of the coronation of King Wilhelm I , he was awarded the Order of the Red Eagle 1st Class with Oak Leaves on October 18, 1861 . To celebrate his 50th anniversary in service, he was awarded the Order of the Crown, 1st Class, on December 31, 1863 . A little later Bogun took his on 4 January 1864 farewell with board . He died the following year on October 11, 1865 in Potsdam.

Bogun married Mathilde von Bülow (1807-1851) on April 22, 1829 in Jülich . The couple had several children:

After the death of his first wife, he married Johanna Palizaeus (1823-1902) on December 21, 1851 in Hildesheim. The couple had several children:

  • Gisela (* 1859), superior of Fort Spitzberg-Jung Germany near Silberberg
