Wilhelm Giesecke

Wilhelm Giesecke (born April 2, 1854 in Altona ; died October 15, 1917 in Barmen ) was a German sculptor , medalist and painter .

Life

Giesecke completed a 7-year training as a sculptor, attended the School of Applied Arts in Nuremberg from 1875 to 1878 , and the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich from 1882 to 1885 as a student of the sculptor Wilhelm Wiedemann and the painter Ludwig von Löfftz . In the meantime, he worked under the court sculptor Philipp Perron at the Herrenchiemsee and Linderhof palaces of the Bavarian King Ludwig II. In 1893 he became a teacher at the Hamburg School of Applied Arts , but in 1895 he went to the Barmer School of Applied Arts , where he taught until his death.
