Wilhelm Jahn (born April 22, 1866 in Zwickau , † December 21, 1924 in Dresden ) was a German lieutenant general .

Life

Jahn came on June 10, 1887 as a cadet in the Carbine Regiment (2nd Heavy regiment) of the Saxon army one was there on January 27 in 1888 Cadet appointed and on September 22 in 1888 second lieutenant promoted. From October 1, 1890 to July 21, 1893 he was assigned to the Prussian War Academy and from April 1, 1894 to March 30, 1896 to the General Staff in Berlin . In the meantime, he had been promoted to lieutenant prime on September 20, 1894 . From September 22, 1897 Jahn was adjutant of the 3rd Cavalry Brigade No. 32 in Dresden. When he was promoted to Rittmeister on September 19, 1900, he was transferred to the central office of the General Staff. Jahn stayed here until October 27, 1904 and was in the meantime reassigned to the General Staff for a year from March 22, 1902. He then acted as squadron chief in his main regiment. On October 1, 1905, he came to the 3rd Uhlan Regiment No. 21 "Kaiser Wilhelm II, King of Prussia" in the same function . From June 16, 1907 to October 21, 1909, Jahn was first general staff officer of 4th Division No. 40 and then with the XII. (I. Royal Saxon) Army Corps . In the meantime promoted to major (since May 22, 1908), he was entrusted with the management of his regular regiment on August 8, 1911 and was appointed commander on December 8, 1913 with the promotion to lieutenant colonel .

With the outbreak of World War I and mobilization, he was deployed with the regiment on the Eastern Front in East Prussia . He was able to distinguish himself several times and was awarded by King Friedrich August III. on February 24, 1916 entrusted with the Knight's Cross of the Military Order of St. Henry . Colonel (since September 28, 1915) Jahn was then promoted to command of 1st Cavalry Brigade No. 23 on August 1, 1916 and to major general on October 18, 1918 .

After the end of the war in the provisional Reichswehr , Jahn was commander of the infantry of Reichswehr Brigade 12 for one year from October 1, 1919. He was then transferred to the staff of the 2nd Cavalry Division . Jahn was retired from active service on June 15, 1921, with the character of Lieutenant General.
