William Full (* 9. August 1897 in Langendiebach ; † 24. June 1973 ) was a German local politician ( SPD ) and district administrator of the district of Hanau .

Origin and education

Wilhelm Voller was the son of the woodworker Johann Voller, who founded the local SPD group in Langendiebach . After school and apprenticeship as a printer , Wilhelm Voller was drafted on August 1, 1916 and experienced the First World War on the Western Front . In February 1919 he was discharged from the military.

Political career

Like his father, Wilhelm Voller was involved in the SPD, the trade union and local politics. From 1924 to 1933 he was a member of the local council of Langendiebach.

Voller was arrested in 1937 for “illegal party work” together with 16 other Social Democrats and was detained for several weeks in the Hanau Gestapo prison, from which he was released on December 24, 1937 but sentenced to prison.

After the end of the Second World War , Voller was appointed district administrator by the US occupation forces on May 31, 1945 after his predecessor, acting district administrator Mathias Floeth , who had been acting on behalf of the occupying power since April , had been dismissed. On June 12, 1946 he was democratically elected by the district council and confirmed in office, elected for a further six years in 1948 and another 12 years in 1954. During this time he was part-time chairman of the supervisory board of Elektrizitäts-Aktiengesellschaft Mitteldeutschland , based in Kassel . When he retired on June 12, 1966, he was the longest-serving Hessian district administrator and thus largely determined the reconstruction of the Hanau district after the destruction of the war.

In 1966 he was awarded the Great Cross of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany.

family

Wilhelm Voller was married twice. He had a son from both marriages.
