Wilhelm Woermann

Wilhelm Wörmann (born December 1, 1919 in Münster ; † May 22, 2017 ) was a German officer, most recently retired Brigadier General . D.

After graduating from high school in 1938, he was drafted into the Reich Labor Service . He did military service in the Wehrmacht and was promoted to lieutenant (1941) and first lieutenant (1944). After the Second World War he studied in Münster and Göttingen. In 1949 he was at the Philosophical Faculty of the Westphalian Wilhelms University of Münster with the musicological dissertation Old Prozessionsgesänge the diocese of Muenster to Dr. phil. PhD. Then he was a research assistant and university lecturer.

In 1956 he joined the Bundeswehr . He was u. a. Used at the armored troop school in Munster and as a teaching staff officer in military history at the Army Officer School II in Husum / Hamburg. In 1958 he became head of inspections, later G1 staff officer in the staff officer and selection courses. In 1960/61 he was deputy battalion commander of the 73rd Panzer Grenadier Battalion in Zeven. From 1961 to 1965 he was battalion commander of the 43rd Panzer Grenadier Battalion in Göttingen. Afterwards he was lecture hall leader and teaching staff officer tactics at the Army Officer School I in Hanover. In 1967 he became a teaching staff officer at the command academy of the Bundeswehr (FüAkBw) in Hamburg. From 1972 to 1974 the colonel was the general's deputy for officer and non-commissioned officer training in the Army Office (HA) in Cologne. After that, the brigadier general was in command of the Army Officer School (OSH) in Hanover. From 1978 to 1980 he was director of training, teaching and research at the FüAkBw in Hamburg.

Since 1971 he was a member of the Clausewitz Society . In 2016 he received the gold pin of honor from the Clausewitz Society.

He was married and the father of two children.
