Rolf-Helmut Schröder

Rolf-Helmut Schröder (born October 22, 1921 in Düsseldorf ; † 2011 ) was a German officer, most recently major general in the Bundeswehr .

Schröder joined the Wehrmacht in 1939 . He served as a frontline officer in World War II and was wounded several times. Schröder received several war awards , in 1944 he was awarded the German Cross in Gold with the rank of first lieutenant . In 1945 he was taken prisoner of war . He then completed commercial and technical training and was most recently export processing manager in an industrial company.

In 1956 he joined the Bundeswehr as a captain. It was used in various ways in the army and in NATO . a. he was the commander of an armored infantry battalion. From 1959 to 1961 he completed the 3rd general staff course (H) at the command academy of the Federal Armed Forces (FüAkBw) in Hamburg and later attended Staff College Camberley .

The brigadier general was commander of the Army Officer School I from 1972 to 1974 and of the Army Officer School (OSH) in Hanover in 1974 . 1974/75 he was general for officer and non-commissioned officer training in the Army Office (HA) in Cologne. After an interim assignment, the major general was from 1977 to 1980 Head of Personnel and Administration at HQ Allied Command Europe (ACE) in Mons. From 1980 to 1982 he was deputy to the commanding general of the III. Corps in Koblenz.

He was married.
