Olaf Rohde

Olaf Rohde (* 26. April 1966 ) is a Brigadier General of the Army of the Armed Forces . He has been the commander of the Army Officers' School in Dresden since August 28, 2020 .

Military career

Training and first uses

In 1988, Rohde joined the Bundeswehr with Panzer Reconnaissance Battalion 1 in Braunschweig . He then completed his training as an officer in the tank reconnaissance force and completed a degree in business administration . Then he was used as a platoon leader and S3 officer in the troops. From 1997 to 2000 he was the company commander of the 2nd / 3rd Panzer Reconnaissance Training Battalion in Lüneburg . From 2000 to 2001 he was employed as an S2 officer and training officer in the army's combat training center in Letzlingen . From 2001 to 2003, Rohde took part in the 44th Army General Staff course at the command academy of the Bundeswehr in Hamburg . Major Rohde received the General Heusinger Prize in 2003 as the best course participant.

Service as a staff officer

His first assignment as a staff officer led Rohde to Department J3 of the Bundeswehr Operations Command in Schwielowsee near Potsdam. From 2004 to 2007 he was employed as a consultant in the planning staff of the Federal Minister of Defense in Berlin . In 2007 Rohde took over the reconnaissance training battalion 3 "Lüneburg" as battalion commander , which he led until 2009. After handing over this command, from 2009 to 2010 he became a consultant in the office of Parliamentary State Secretary Thomas Kossendey in Berlin. From 2010 to 2012 Rohde was the head of the planning department (staff officer G5) on the staff of the 1st Panzer Division in Hanover . This was followed by a renewed transfer to the command and control command of the Bundeswehr , where he was employed from 2012-2013 as group leader principle in department J3 / 5/7. This was followed by a ministerial assignment from 2013 to 2014 as Head of Division Pol I 1 Basics of Security Policy and Bilateral Relations of the Bundeswehr in the Politics Department in the Federal Ministry of Defense in Berlin. From 2014 to 2015 there was another ministerial assignment as head of division in the management team.

Service as a general

From 2015 to 2017, Rohde was head of the attractiveness working group and secretary of the attractiveness steering board in the Federal Ministry of Defense in Berlin. On this post he was also promoted to brigadier general. On June 23, 2017, Rohde took over from Brigadier General Norbert Wagner as commander of the Munster training center . On August 22, 2019, he again handed this post to Brigadier General Ullrich Spannuth , and was then a one-year course participant at the Royal College of Defense Studies in London ( Great Britain ). On August 28, 2020, Rohde took over command of the army officers' school in Dresden from Brigadier General Martin Hein .
