Harald Gante
Harald Gante (born June 5, 1963 in Attendorn ) is a major general in the Army of the German Armed Forces , and since September 11, 2018 commander of the 10th Panzer Division in Veitshöchheim .

Harald Gante joined the Bundeswehr in 1982. He completed his officer training at the Army Pioneer School in Munich and at the 7th Engineer Battalion in Höxter . From 1983 to 1987 he studied civil engineering at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Munich. In 1985 he was made a lieutenant. He received his first assignment as an officer from 1987 to 1990 as a platoon leader in Pioneer Battalion 210 in Munich. Since 1988 he has led the platoon in the rank of first lieutenant . From 1990 to 1993 Gante led the 2nd company in the Pioneer Training Battalion 220 in Munich. He was appointed captain in 1991. In this post he was employed in 1992 for 6 months at UNOSOM in Mogadishu ( Somalia ). From 1993 to 1995 he was an infrastructure officer in the southern infrastructure staff in Ulm .
Service as a staff officer
From 1995 to 1997 he completed general staff training at the command academy of the German Armed Forces in Hamburg and was promoted to major in 1996. From 1997 to 1999 he was employed as a general staff officer ( G3Op ) in the staff of the 14th Panzer Grenadier Division. In Bracknell , UK , he attended a course at the Joint Services Command and Staff College from 1999 to 2000 . From 2000 to 2003 he was employed as a consultant in the rank of lieutenant colonel in the command staff of the army in the Federal Ministry of Defense ( BMVg Fü H III 2 ). From 2003 to 2006 Gante led the Pioneer Battalion 140 in Emmerich am Rhein . From 2006 to 2007 he was Head of the Basic Troop Command Division in the Army Office ( I 1 ) in Cologne . From October 2006 to February 2007 he was assigned to the EUFOR / ALTHEA mission in Bosnia-Herzegovina . From 2007 to 2008 he was used again in Department G3 in the 14th Panzer Grenadier Division, but now as a department head. In 2008 he was promoted to colonel. From 2008 to 2009 Harald Gante headed the G5 Plans and Policy department at the Allied Land Component Command in Heidelberg . From 2009 to 2010 he was head of the Afghanistan division in the operational command staff of the Federal Ministry of Defense in Berlin . From 2010 to 2012 he was the Federal Ministry of Defense's liaison officer to the Federal President .
Service in the rank of general
From March 23, 2012 to March 14, 2014, as commander of Panzer Brigade 21 “Lipperland” in Augustdorf, he again held a troop command. He was the successor to Brigadier General Dirk Backen on this post .
From February 1 to August 1, 2014, he was Chief of Staff in Regional Command North ( Camp Marmal ) of ISAF . He then succeeded Major General Bernd Schütt as contingent leader of the German ISAF contingent and commander Train Advise and Assist Command North (TAAC-N) in the Resolute Support mission . He handed over the command of the TAAC-N to Andreas Hannemann on February 19, 2015 . Gante took command of the Army Officers' School in Dresden on July 24, 2015 . Gante passed this command on to Brigadier General Martin Hein on August 21, 2018 .
On September 11, 2018, Gante took over command of the 10th Panzer Division in Veitshöchheim from Major General Bernd Schütt . In this post he was promoted to major general in November 2018.
