William E. Crow

William Evans Crow (born March 10, 1870 in German Township , Fayette County , Pennsylvania , †  August 2, 1922 in Uniontown , Pennsylvania) was an American politician ( Republican Party ) who represented the state of Pennsylvania in the US Senate .

William Crow initially attended the common schools before he graduated from the 1890 Southwestern State Normal School , a normal school made; later he continued his education at Waynesburg college . He then worked in the newspaper industry for three years and finally studied law . After joining the Bar in 1895, he began practicing in Uniontown.

In 1896 Crow was appointed assistant district attorney; two years later, he was elected to the post of district attorney, which he held until 1901. His political career began with the election to the Pennsylvania Senate , which Crow was a member until 1921. During this time he was a delegate to the Republican National Conventions of 1916 and 1920. He resigned his state mandate after he was appointed to succeed the late Philander C. Knox in the US Senate. In Congress Crow sitting on October 24, 1921. he then died in office on August 2, 1922.

His son William was a member of the US House of Representatives for Pennsylvania from 1947 to 1949 .
