David A. Reed
David Aiken Reed (born December 21, 1880 in Pittsburgh , Pennsylvania , † February 10, 1953 in Sarasota , Florida ) was an American politician ( Republican Party ) who represented the state of Pennsylvania in the US Senate .
After attending private schools, David Reed graduated from Shadyside Academy in 1896 . He graduated from Princeton in 1900 and from the University of Pittsburgh Law School three years later ; after joining the bar, he began practicing in Pittsburgh. From 1912 to 1915 he was the state commission for work accidents. During the First World War , he served as a major in the artillery from 1917 before returning to his office in 1919.
After the death of US Senator William E. Crow , Reed was appointed his successor in Congress on August 8, 1922 ; on November 7th of the same year he was elected for a separate term of office. After re-election in 1928, he remained in the Senate until January 3, 1935; in the election in 1934 he was defeated by the Democrat Joseph F. Guffey .
As a result, David Reed worked again as a lawyer in Pittsburgh. He died in 1953 and was buried in Arlington National Cemetery.
