The Wolseley Sixteen was a mid-range car that Wolseleys brought out in 1933 as the successor to the almost identical models 16/45 and Viper . This first overhead cam model was built until 1934. In 1936 another car with this name appeared. The car with a slightly larger but overhead valve engine was offered until 1938 and then found its successor in the slightly smaller Wolseley 16/65 , which was offered until 1939.

In 1933 the first Wolseley Sixteen replaced the 16/45. On the six-cylinder in-line engine with 2025 cm³ displacement, the output of which is 50 bhp (37 kW) at 4500 rpm. is specified, nothing had changed. The wheelbase had shrunk to 2794 mm. Accordingly, the superstructure was a little shorter at 4267 mm; its width (1626 mm) had also decreased. The curb weight had increased to 934 kg. Nevertheless, the new car reached a top speed of 103 km / h.

In 1934 the production of the Sixteen was stopped and the 2.0 l R6 ohc engine disappeared from the Wolseley product range.

The second Sixteen appeared in 1936.

However, unlike its predecessor, its in-line six-cylinder engine with a displacement of 2062 cm³ had an underneath camshaft that operated the hanging valves via bumpers and rocker arms. The car was bodied as a four-door sedan. The top speed was 107 km / h.

The successor to the second sixteen was the 16/65. Its wheelbase was a little shorter and reached a top speed of 120 km / h with the same engine.

When production was discontinued at the beginning of the war, the 16 hp model disappeared from the Wolseley range.
