Yebes is a city in the Spanish province of Guadalajara . In 2019, the entire municipality had 3791 inhabitants thanks to the planned town of Valdeluz, which was built 10 km away from 2004 . Before it was built, the population was 239 in 2006 and only 167 in 2002. The area of the municipality is 17 square kilometers. The place is located south of the national road from Guadalajara to Sacédon .
Yebes is 879 m above sea level in the Alcarria plateau. The area has many oak forests and is used for agriculture. In the area of the municipality there is a sanatorium for the mentally ill (Sanatorio de Alcohete).
The place has belonged to Guadalajara since the Reconquista . In 1648 Philip IV sold Yebes and Valdarachas to Juan Esteban Imbrea. The parish church of San Bartolomé is from the 16th century.
In 2004 the new town of Valdeluz was built next to the old town, 10 km away . There is a train station on the Madrid – Barcelona high-speed line .
Near Yebes is the 40 m radio telescope of the Yebes Observatory .
