Evhen Anatolijowytsch Braslawez ( Ukrainian Євген Анатолійович Браславець ; born September 11, 1972 in Dnipro , Ukrainian SSR ) is a former Ukrainian sailor .
successes
Jewhen Braslawez took part in the Olympic Games three times with Ihor Matvijenko in the 470 dinghy . In 1996 , the two of them were already established as Olympic champions with 40 total points in Atlanta before the final eleventh race of the regatta , thus winning the gold medal ahead of the British and Portuguese boats. At the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney they finished the regatta with 72 points in sixth place, four years later they were ninth with 106 points in Athens . During the opening ceremony of the Games in Sydney, Braslawez acted as the flag bearer of the Ukrainian delegation. At the world championships in the 470 dinghy, Braslawez and Matwijenko first won the bronze medal at Balaton in 2000 , before they became world champions in Koper the following year . In 2015 he also won the title in the dragon boat class in La Rochelle .
