The Yucay District is located in the Urubamba Province of the Cusco Region in south-central Peru . The district was founded on September 9, 1905. It has an area of ​​32.8 km². The 2017 census counted 3342 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 2880, in 2007 it was 3101. The district administration is located in the 2858  m high small town of Yucay with 3267 inhabitants (as of 2017). Yucay is 4 km east-southeast of the provincial capital Urubamba .

Geographical location

The district of Yucay is located on the north bank of the west-flowing Río Urubamba in the east of the province of Urubamba.

The Yucay district is bordered to the west by the district Urubamba , in the northeast on the district Calca ( province Calca ) and to the east and the south by the district Huayllabamba .
