history

Zedlig was created in the 17th century. Traditional forms of place names are Zedlich in 1759, Zedlitz in 1791, Zeddlig in 1800 and finally Zedlitz since 1831. The place was initially a preliminary work of the Kreba manor. For 1777 four gardeners and five cottagers were registered as residents. From 1816 the place belonged to the district of Rothenburg (Ob. Laus.) In the province of Silesia . In 1885 there were 33 inhabitants in Zedlig, in 1905 there were 95 inhabitants. Zedlig also belonged to Kreba church until 1914, but was then re-parish to Nieder Kosel . From 1947 Zedlig belonged to the district of Weißwasser-Görlitz , which was renamed in 1950 to the district of Niesky .

Since the GDR district reform in July 1952, Zedlig belonged to the Niesky district in the Dresden district . In 1957 the place was reclassified into the municipality of Kosel due to the closer location of Kreba. After reunification , Zedlig belonged to the Niesky district . On March 1, 1994 Kosel and its districts were incorporated into the city of Niesky . In the same year Zedlig came to the newly founded Lower Silesian Upper Lusatia District, which opened in the Görlitz district in 2008.
