Zedlitz ( Polish Grabice ) is a village in Upper Silesia . Zedlitz is located in the municipality of Murow in the Opolski powiat in the Polish Opole Voivodeship .

Geographical location

Zedlitz is located about seven kilometers northeast of the municipality in Murow and about 30 kilometers north of the district town and voivodeship capital Opole . The place is in the middle of a large forest area with conifers, which is part of the Stobrawski Landscape Protection Park .

Neighboring places

North-east of Zedlitz are the two villages Plümkenau (Polish Radomierowice ) and Süßenrode (Polish Młodnik ). Friedrichsthal (Polish: Zagwiździe ) is located south of Zedlitz .

history

The Zedlitz colony was founded in 1773. In 1784 there were 20 houses in the colony and in 1845 37 houses. A school was built in 1802.

In the referendum in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921, 266 eligible voters voted to remain with Germany and no one for Poland. Zedlitz remained with the German Empire . In 1933 there were 305 inhabitants. In 1939 the place had 267 inhabitants. Until 1945 the place was in the district of Opole .

In 1945 the previously German place came under Polish administration, was renamed Grabice and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. In 1950 Grabice became part of the Opole Voivodeship and in 1999 the re-established Powiat Opolski . In March 2009, the place was also given the official German place name Zedlitz .
