Zhang Yangyang

Zhang Yangyang ( Chinese  张 杨杨 , Pinyin Zhāng Yángyáng ; born February 20, 1989 in Siping ) is a Chinese rower .

Zhang Yangyang, who started rowing in 2004, became the junior world champion in double sculls at the 2007 Junior World Championships . At the world championships in the adult class , she finished fifth with the four-man without a helmsman . Shortly before the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, Zhang Yangyang moved into double fours for Feng Guixin . In front of a home crowd, Jin Ziwei , Tang Bin , Xi Aihua and Zhang Yangyang won the gold medal in the quadruple sculls, the first and so far (as of 2012) only Olympic gold medal for the People's Republic of China.

In 2010 and 2011, Zhang Yangyang was active in the Rowing World Cup and achieved second place in the double sculls in Bled 2010, her best ranking until 2012. However, after 2007 she no longer took part in the rowing world championships. Her only start at a major international championship after 2008 was at the 2012 Olympic Games when she finished fifth with a double foursome.
