Kateryna Mykolajiwna Tarasenko ( Ukrainian Катерина Миколаївна Тарасенко * 6. August 1987 in Dnipropetrovsk ) is a Ukrainian rower , which together with Natalija Dowhodko , Anastasia Koschenkowa and Yana Dementieva in 2012 the gold medal in quadruple sculls won and the first rowing Olympic gold medal for Ukraine to realized the collapse of the Soviet Union .

Athletic career

Kateryna Tarassenko won the silver medal in the four-four at the 2004 Junior World Championships . In 2007 she finished fourth at the U23 World Championships in a double scull with Olena Burjak . At the world championships without age limit, the two did not reach the goal after a weak run in the hope run . At the end of the season at the European Championships 2007 , Kateryna Tarassenko competed with Jana Dementjewa and again just missed a medal place in fourth. In 2012 the Ukrainian four-four achieved a flawless record, three victories in the World Cup followed the Olympic victory on Dorney Lake and the victory at the European Championships in Varese, only Tarassenko and Jana Dementjewa were there in all five victories of the season.
