Sadly, in April 2014 Vega de Espinareda became infamously known when animal activists and, especially, some social media networks echoed the passivity shown by its neighbors. Neither [[Nature_Protection_Service_(Spain)|Seprona]] nor the Ayuntamiento took any action and the dog was left to die of starvation and pain, as it had been severely injured by a car. Fortunately, some person finally took the dog to an association. |

Vega de Espinareda (A Veiga de Espiñareda in Galician language) is a village and municipality located in the region of El Bierzo (province of León, Castile and León, Spain) . According to the 2004 census (INE), the municipality has a population of 2,705 inhabitants.
It is one of Galician speaking councils of Castilla y León[1]
