(2680) Mateo ( 1975 NF ; 1953 RF ; 1953 TA 2 ; 1979 ON 13 ) is an approximately six kilometers large asteroid of the inner main belt that was discovered on July 1, 1975 at the Felix Aguilar Observatory in the El Leoncito National Park in the province of San Juan was discovered in Argentina ( IAU code 808). It belongs to the Hertha family , a group of asteroids named after (135) Hertha .
designation
(2680) Mateo was named after the geophysicist José Mateo (1914–1978), who for years was the department of gravimetry and tides at the Observatorio Astronómico de La Plata (IAU code 839) and later during the last construction phase of the Felix Aguilar Observatory Was director.
