(2854) Rawson ( 1964 JE ; 1931 DS ; 1967 EN ; 1971 ON ; 1981 PS ) is an approximately seven kilometers large asteroid of the inner main belt that was discovered on May 6, 1964 by the Argentine astronomer David McLeish at the Observatorio Astronómico de Córdoba in Córdoba im Departamento Capital , Province of Cordoba ( IAU code 822).

designation

(2854) Rawson was named after the Argentine doctor and politician Guillermo Rawson (1825-1900). He was a member of the Argentine Parliament and Minister of the Interior and the Argentine city of Rawson in the Rawson Department in the province of Chubut was named after him.
