(308197) Satrapi is an asteroid of the main inner belt . It was discovered by the French computer scientist and amateur astronomer Jean-Claude Merlin on March 3, 2005 at the fully automatic Ritchey-Chrétien 81 cm telescope at the Tenagra II Observatory in Nogales , Arizona ( IAU code 926). The telescope was able to head for Merlin from France when it was discovered.
The asteroid belongs to the Nysa group, a group of asteroids named after (44) Nysa (also called the Hertha family, after (135) Hertha ). The ageless (not osculating ) orbital elements of (308197) Satrapi are almost identical with those of eight further asteroids, for example, the 1992 discovered (19208) Starr Field .
(308197) Satrapi was named on February 22, 2016 after the Iranian- French comic artist , illustrator of children's books and filmmaker Marjane Satrapi (* 1969).
