(3347) Constantine is an asteroid of the main outer belt , which was discovered by the Soviet astronomer Tamara Smirnova on November 2, 1975 at the Crimean Observatory in Nautschnyj ( IAU code 095). There had already been several unconfirmed sightings of the asteroid: including on October 27, 1903 with the provisional designation A903 UF and in 1952 (1952 QL) at the State Observatory in Heidelberg-Königstuhl and on October 14, 1969 (1969 TA 5 ) on Crimean Observatory in Nautschnyj.

According to the SMASS classification ( Small Main-Belt Asteroid Spectroscopic Survey ), a spectroscopic study by Gianluca Masi , Sergio Foglia and Richard P. Binzel at (3347) Konstantin assumed a dark surface, so it could, roughly speaking, be around trade a C asteroid .

(3347) Konstantin was named on November 2, 1990 after the Soviet aircraft designer Konstantin Alexejewitsch Kalinin (1889-1938). The asteroid of the middle main belt (2699) Kalinin , also discovered in Nautschnyj , was named in 1983 after the Soviet head of state Mikhail Ivanovich Kalinin .
