(35394) Countbasie is an asteroid of the main inner belt . He was surveyed on December 7, 1997 as part of the OCA-DLR Asteroid Surveys (ODAS), a project of the OCA (Observatoire de la Côte d'Azur) and the DLR ( German Aerospace Center ), at the 90 cm Schmidt telescope discovered by the French Observatoire de Calern ( IAU code 910). The asteroid had previously been sighted in March 1984 under the provisional designation 1984 ED 1 at the Anderson Mesa Station of the Lowell Observatory in Arizona .
The mean diameter of the asteroid was calculated very roughly at 6.299 (± 1.852) km , the albedo also very roughly at 0.189 (± 0.218).
The mean distance from the Sun ( semi-major axis ), eccentricity and inclination of the orbit plane of the asteroid correspond to the Dora family, a group of asteroids named after (668) Dora . A family affiliation of the asteroid has not yet been defined.
(35394) Countbasie was named on November 8, 2019 after the American jazz pianist , organist , composer and band leader of the swing Count Basie (1904-1984).
