Ålands Zukunft ( Swedish Ålands Framtid ; Finnish Ahvenanmaan tulevaisuus , abbreviation ÅF ) is a separatist and liberal party in Åland . She advocates the region's political independence from the Finnish state .

history

The party was founded before the Åland parliamentary elections in 2003 . The most important person of the party was the first party leader Anders Eriksson , who was previously a member of the Lagting and Minister of Economics of the Åland Center . Election results improved in the first few years up to 2011, but fell again from 2011 to 2015. In the most recent parliamentary election in 2015 , Åland's Future received 7.4 percent of the vote. It provides two of the 30 members of the Lagting, Åland's parliament. There she is represented by Axel Jonsson and Brage Eklund. Since Axel Jonsson resigned as party leader on October 3, 2018, Pia Eriksson became the new party leader.

Alignment

The most important party position in Åland's future is Åland's independence from Finland with the aim of having a state of its own. In order to justify the sense of this project, the party presented several concepts for the implementation of this project. In the course of the archipelago's self-image as a state, the party particularly emphasizes demilitarization and the obligation of neutrality , which should be the basis of state action in foreign policy in the event of independence , in order to secure peace not only in Åland , but also internationally Community to promote a policy of disarmament.

The individual person should be given the same rights and duties regardless of gender, whereby they can freely develop their own personality. However, this freedom must also be reconciled with social development and responsibility. Freedom in entrepreneurship is also seen as very central . However, the language protection of Swedish has to be considered in all areas. The preservation of the environment is a central part of the political work.

Although the party strives for independence from Finland in particular to preserve the Swedish-speaking culture, it explicitly speaks out against an isolated society. Instead, it stands for a cosmopolitan policy that advocates both the European Union and the immigration of skilled workers , for example in the care sector.
