Şanver Göymen (born January 22, 1967 in Samsun ) is a former Turkish football goalkeeper and coach. Because of his six years working for Altay Izmir , he is associated with this association. With the Turkish national team he took part in the European Championship in 1996 , but was not used during this tournament.

Player career

society

Göymen began club football in the youth of the Turkish Black Sea club Samsunspor . Here he made it into the squad of the professional team in the summer of 1987 and completed two league games for his team by the end of the season. He was the second goalkeeper behind the undisputed regular goalkeeper Fatih Uraz . Samsunspor had finished the last two seasons in 3rd place in the table and ended the season 1987/88 in 4th place in the table. The club also started successfully in the 1988/89 season and established itself at the top. Göymen did not play a league match until the winter break and was on the bench. On the first match day of the second half of the season, the team had to play away against Malatyaspor . On the outward journey to Malatya , the Samsunspors team bus got into a serious accident, as a result of which several players, coaches and club officials were killed or seriously injured. Due to this event, the team could not take part in the game in the second half of the season, so the Turkish Football Association decided not to let Samsunspor play for the second half. All games were decided 3-0 for the opponent Samsunspors. Samsunspor was bottom of the table, but not relegated. Göymen was in the team squad during the accident and suffered serious injuries that he suffered for several months.

After about a year and a half, he started a fresh start with third division club Merzifonspor . Despite his injuries that had only just recovered, he won a regular place at the start of the season and became one of the most noticeable young goalkeepers. So the then second division Denizlispor became aware of him and committed him to the new season. At Denizlispor he fought for more and more stakes as the season progressed and also won the regular place in the second season.

For the 1993/94 season he moved to the first division club Altay Izmir . Here, too, Göymen made it into the starting eleven within a very short time. At Altay, he quickly established himself as a top performer and also rose to become a national player. In the six seasons for Altay he reached the 7th place in the table with Altay in the 1997/98 season , which meant the best placement after a long time for the formerly successful club. In the following season he was left behind by goalkeeper Nihat Tümkaya, who was brought in by Trabzonspor, and only played in two league games.

In the summer of 1999 he left Altay after six years and moved to the 2nd Lig for relegated Çanakkale Dardanelspor . Here he only played one season and was loaned the second season to the third division Manisaspor . In the summer of 2001 he ended his active football career.

National team

In December 1994, Göymen was nominated for the first time in his career in the squad of the Turkish national team as part of a friendly against the Italian national team by the then national coach Fatih Terim . During this game he made his international debut. After this international debut, he was one of the regularly nominated players for the national team for two years and made four more international appearances.

With the Turkish national team he took part in the European Championship in 1996 , but was not used during this tournament. After this tournament Terim left the national team and was replaced by Mustafa Denizli . This coach preferred other goalkeepers.

Coaching career

After his career as a professional football player, he switched to coaching and worked in several positions as a goalkeeper, assistant and head coach. In the 2010/11 season he assisted his old coach Ümit Kayıhan at the second division club Çaykur Rizespor as a goalkeeping coach.
