(41488) Sindbad is a major outer belt asteroid discovered on August 29, 2000 by Australian amateur astronomer John Broughton at the Reedy Creek Observatory ( IAU code 428). The observatory is located in the district of Reedy Creek the city of Gold Coast in Queensland .

The mean diameter of the asteroid was calculated to be 18.149 (± 0.210) km .

(41488) Sindbad was named on February 19, 2006 after Sindbad the seafarer from the collection of stories Arabian Nights . In 1982 an impact crater on Saturn's moon Enceladus was also named after Sindbad: Enceladus crater Sindbad .
