(52457) Enquist is an asteroid located in the central main belt . It was discovered on January 2, 1995 by the Belgian astronomer Eric Walter Elst at the Schmidt telescope of the French Observatoire de Calern near Grasse ( IAU code 010). The asteroid had already been sighted on November 15, 1969 under the provisional designation 1969 VJ 2 at the Crimean Observatory in Nautschnyj .
The asteroid is part of the Astraea family, a group of asteroids named after (5) Astraea .
The mean diameter of (52457) Enquist was calculated to be 7.983 (± 0.050) kilometers and the albedo to be 0.045 (± 0.006).
(52457) Enquist was named on September 9, 2014 after the Dutch writer and poet Anna Enquist (* 1945). Her first novel Das Meisterstück from 1994 was particularly highlighted in the dedication .
