history
Cap Anson became the first player to achieve this number on July 18, 1897, although the exact number of his career hits is unknown.
Two players ( Nap Lajoie and Honus Wagner ) hit 3,000 hits in the 1914 season. Ty Cobb was the fourth member in 1921 and became the first player in MLB history to hit 4,000 hits in 1927, until he ended his career with just over 4,100 Hits ended. Cobb, who has the best batting average in the MLB to date, remained at the top of the rankings until September 11, 1985 when Pete Rose made his 4,192. Career hit. Rose ended his career with a total of 4,256 hits and continues to lead the rankings to this day. That achievement, which in itself would have been enough to qualify for the Baseball Hall of Fame had he not been banned from Major League Baseball for gambling at games he was a manager. Roberto Clemente's career ended with exactly 3,000 hits. Ichiro Suzuki is the latest addition to achieve this milestone on August 7, 2016.
The 4,000 Hits Club is barely mentioned and only has Ty Cobb and Pete Rose members. Cobb was the fastest and youngest player in history to score 3,000 hits. He had that number at his 2,135. Reached game when he was 34 years and 243 days old. Also, Cobb became the youngest player to hit 1,000, 2,000, and 4,000 hits while playing in the American League. Tony Gwynn was the fastest National League player to hit 3,000 hits. He hit the mark at his 2,284. Game. Hank Aaron was the youngest NL player to reach the 3,000 hits at the age of 36 years and 100 days.
A total of 31 players made it to the 3,000-hit mark in the history of the MLB. Of those 31 players, 16 were right-thugs, 13 were left-thugs, and two were switch-hitters, meaning they could hit from either side of the plate. 10 of these players played for only one major league team. Five players - Hank Aaron , Willie Mays , Eddie Murray , Rafael Palmeiro and Alex Rodríguez - are also members of the 500 Home Run Club . With a batting average of 378, Cobb holds the highest member average while Cal Ripken Jr. has the lowest at 276. Alex Rodríguez, Derek Jeter and Wade Boggs are the only players who have a home run as their 3,000. Were able to achieve hit, Paul Molitor and Suzuki are the only players that a triple as their 3000. achieved. Everyone else hit a single or a double. Craig Biggio was the only one to get kicked out trying to double as 3,000. Hit hit. Also, Biggio and Jeter are the only players who had 5 hits in the game when they joined the club. Jeter has safely reached his bases with every stroke.
3,000 hits have long been seen as a guarantee of a possible entry into the Baseball Hall of Fame . All eligible members, with the exception of Palmeiro, made it into the Hall of Fame. Since 1962, all members of the 3,000 Hits Club managed to get elected on the first ballot, with the exception of Biggio. Rose is not eligible for the Hall of Fame because he was permanently banned from baseball in 1989. After four years on the ballot papers, Palmeiro failed to make the necessary 5% hurdle, which means that his name will be removed from future elections. The only active player on the list is Pujols.
