Gauge : 1435 mm ( standard gauge )

The Spanish railway infrastructure company ADIF calls a series 330 a measuring train for high-speed lines . It is used both for monitoring existing routes and for acceptance runs on new routes.

The five-part multiple unit consists of a powered end car , three intermediate cars and a control car . At the end of 2007 it was baptized with the name tren laboratorio Séneca (in German about experimental train Seneca ). The staff often refer to it as the Heinekenzug because of its green color .

The measuring equipment is housed in the first two intermediate cars. The train can measure the geometric position of the track and overhead line while it is in motion . It is also possible to check and measure parameters of the train control systems ASFA , ETCS and the train radio system GSM-R . The measurement of pressure conditions in rail tunnels , especially when trains meet, has been prepared.

history

In 2003, the Dirección General de Desarrollo de la Infraestructura (in German about the Department for Technological Innovations at the Director General for Infrastructure Development ) of ADIF and Talgo began planning the construction of a test train.

While the control car and the third intermediate car (with "Tourista" seating) were newly built for the test train, the powered end car and the other two intermediate cars come from a prototype multiple unit that was built from 1998 and was used for vehicle test drives between 2000 and 2003 has been. The third intermediate car corresponds to the cars used in the series vehicles of the AVE series 102 .

With the newly developed control car, which corresponds to the structure of the powered end car, but does not have a drive, it was possible to easily change the direction of travel . It was additionally weighted in order to have similar driving dynamics properties as the power car. Traction units , bogies and transmission were replaced by steel elements.

The train was put into service as a measuring train in 2006.

Prototype power car Talgo 350

A series train from the AVE S-102 series on the new Madrid – Barcelona line

The power head of the train is a prototype for the AVE S-102 series , which has been used in scheduled passenger traffic since the end of February 2005.

In May 1998, Talgo commissioned the companies Adtranz and Krauss-Maffei Verkehrstechnik to manufacture the prototype power unit. The electrical equipment of the power car was developed at the Adtranz location in Zurich and installed in the box supplied by Krauss-Maffei . The almost 68 t heavy prototype power end was delivered in March 2000 as the second-last locomotive from the Adtranz factory in Zurich before it was closed. The powered end had a driver's desk similar to the SBB Re 460 . He was called Virgen del Pilar .

In Spain, commissioning and measurement runs with the new power car and six Talgo cars followed on the new Madrid – Seville line . On February 24, 2001, this train, known as the Talgo 350 , set a new Spanish rail speed record with 359 km / h.

After the tests were completed, the prototype train was initially parked in the Montagut maintenance facility (km 430.4) on the new Madrid – Barcelona line west of Lleida . The train was later taken over by the infrastructure company GIF , which had it converted into a catenary and track measuring train from 2003 by Patentes Talgo SA . With the dissolution of the GIF and its transition to the ADIF on January 1, 2005, the train also became the property of the new railway infrastructure company.

Special rides

  • During the test drives on the new Madrid – Valladolid line opened in December 2007 , the train set a speed record for this line on November 22, 2007 with 336 km / h.
  • On February 8, 2008, the multiple unit was the first electric train to run on the new line to Barcelona Sants station . This last section of the new line between Madrid and Barcelona was opened on February 20, 2008.

technology

The prototype power head was already equipped ex works with on-board equipment for the ASFA and ETCS Level 1 and 2 train control systems.

He has IGBT - inverter . Electromotive brakes (with braking resistors and feedback ), one disc brake per shaft and two each on the wheels are used as braking systems . The other three intermediate cars of the train brake purely mechanically.
