A Secret Death (sometimes spelled Asecretdeath ) is an Australian hardcore punk and metalcore band from Gold Coast that was formed in 2003.

history

The band was founded in March 2003, after which the EP Fear Is the Driving Force was released in 2005 . In January 2006, the group was seen at the Big Day Out in Gold Coast, which was followed by appearances with, among others, Clutch , Atreyu , Sick of It All , Converge and The Dillinger Escape Plan . It also went on a national tour with Evergreen Terrace and Parkway Drive . In 2008 Fear Is the Driving Force was re-released on the Brisbane label Skull and Bones Records , with five songs included as a bonus. At the beginning of the year, the group began work on their debut album. The self-titled album was released that same year on Skull and Bones Records and was re-released the following year on Tribunal Records . After a long hiatus and after moving to Melbourne , the band returned in 2012. In 2013 they went on a national tour with the Japanese band Palm , which was filmed for a documentary. In 2014, a split release with Safe Hands was released via Monolith Records . In 2015, the album Epilogue followed on the same label , which was produced by Mike Deslandes and mastered by Alan Douches . In their career, the band has performed with Every Time I Die , Norma Jean , Story of the Year , Unearth , Darkest Hour , Strike Anywhere , The Bled , From Autumn to Ashes , Shai Hulud , Eighteen Visions and Boysetsfire, among others .

style

According to Brian Giffin in his Encyclopedia of Australian heavy metal band plays a mix of heavy death metal - riffs with Screamo -Gesang and Doom Metal borrowed post-metal - Ambience -Klängen. Ken Ward of fasterlouder.junkee.com wrote in his review of Fear Is the Driving Force that it contains straightforward aggressive hardcore punk. Screaming metal can also be heard, while arpeggios are occasionally used on the electric guitars . Overall, the EP is loud, wild and full of anger. Alasdair Belling from killyourstereo.com assigned Epilogue to metalcore and hardcore punk. Then the group is aggressive, fast, dynamic and occasionally influenced by Doom Metal. The singing consists of screams and breakdowns are used , which sound from the sludge . Occasionally the group works in sometimes melodic, sometimes groovy passages.
