Adolf Verlohren

Karl Heinrich Adolf Verlohren (born April 3, 1794 in Dresden , † August 11, 1854 in Erfurt ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

Adolf was the son of the Chief War Commissioner in the Saxon Army Karl August Verlohren († 1799) and his wife Juliane Friederike Zender († 1800).

Military career

During the Wars of Liberation, on November 1, 1813, Verlohren volunteered in the 1st Landwehr Regiment of the Saxon Army and on December 8, 1813, became a lieutenant and battalion adjutant. After his participation in the fighting in Courtray and Pont à Bouvines Verlohren was early June 1814 Brigade adjutant to General Bose .

After the war, he changed to Prussian service on May 16, 1815 and was employed as a prime lieutenant in the 1st Thuringian Landwehr Infantry Regiment. On October 3, 1815, he was transferred to the Adjutantur and employed as an adjutant to the inspector of the Landwehr Inspection Merseburg, General von Carlowitz . There he was promoted to captain on March 30, 1818 and used from the end of March 1819 to the end of March 1833 in the 7th , 5th and 11th divisions . As a major , Verlohren then joined the 37th Infantry Regiment and commanded the 2nd Battalion in Magdeburg . From April 18, 1836 to March 27, 1841 he was commander of the 2nd battalion in the 15th Landwehr Regiment in Paderborn . Subsequently transferred to the 36th Infantry Regiment , Verlohren became a lieutenant colonel at the end of March 1841 . On March 22, 1843, he was commissioned to lead the 31st Infantry Regiment and on January 16, 1844, Verlohren was appointed regiment commander. In this position he was promoted to colonel at the end of March 1844, briefly received command of the 11th Landwehr Brigade in Breslau at the beginning of August 1848 and was appointed commander of the 8th Landwehr Brigade in Erfurt on September 7, 1849. In addition, a few days later, Verlohren was aggregated to the 31st Infantry Regiment .

As part of the reorganization of the contingents of the Thuringian states, Verlohren was appointed military commissioner on April 7, 1849. On April 4, 1850 he was promoted to major general and on May 5, 1852 appointed commander of the 15th Infantry Brigade . In this position, Verlohren received the Commander's First Class of the Duke of Saxony-Ernestine House Order in mid-July 1852 and the Order of the Red Eagle, Second Class with Oak Leaves, on September 10, 1853 . Under awarding of the character as Lieutenant General he took his on May 2, 1854 farewell and already died on August 11, 1854 in Erfurt.
