Karl August Joseph Friedrich von Bose (born March 28, 1763 in Helba ; † July 10, 1826 in Bad Salzbrunn ) was a royal Saxon major general and later a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

origin

Karl August Joseph Friedrich came from the Central German noble family von Bose , which originally belonged to the prehistoric nobility of the Merseburg Monastery. His father Johann Friedrich Wilhelm von Bose (1719–1781) came from the Thuringian line of the family and was the master of Helba. As a lieutenant colonel, he was in the service of princely Saxony-Meiningen . His mother was Ernstine Katharina Josepha, née von Dresler and Scharfenstein.

Military career

Bose joined the Electoral Saxon Cadet Corps in Dresden on March 1, 1774 . On November 23, 1778 he was promoted to corporal , on January 16, 1781 to sub-lieutenant and on August 30, 1789 to prime lieutenant in the Saxon body grenadier guard. During the First Coalition War he fought against the French revolutionary troops in 1794/95, among others in the battle of Kaiserslautern (November 28 and 30, 1793) and the battle near Hornburg. On September 27, 1800 he was promoted to captain in the body grenadier guard.

In 1809 during the campaign against Austria , the Saxon Army belonged to the Rhine Confederation troops and were allies of Napoleon . Bose, major since March 20, 1809 , took part in the battles near Linz and Nussdorf. In the following battle near Wagram on July 5 and 6, 1809, he was able to distinguish himself particularly and received the Knight's Cross of the Military Order of St. Henry . On October 31, 1810 Bose became a lieutenant colonel and adjutant and on May 12, 1811 to colonel and adjutant general of the Saxon King Friedrich August I appointed. On October 30, 1815, Bose received a donation of 2000 thalers from the Prussian King Friedrich Wilhelm III for his services . In November 1815 he became inspector of the Landwehr in the Kleve administrative district . On January 16, 1818 Bose was awarded the Order of the Red Eagle III. Excellent and in February 1820 appointed in command of the Schweidnitz Fortress in Silesia . He was promoted to lieutenant general on March 30, 1820 with a patent from April 3, 1820.

His retirement and retirement was approved on June 13, 1825, when he was awarded the Order of the Red Eagle, 1st class. Just one year later, on July 10, 1826 at the age of 63, Bose died in Salzbrunn in Silesia.
