Adolf Pommer Esche , from Pommer Esche since 1813 , (born June 24, 1804 in Stralsund , † December 7, 1871 in Koblenz ) was a Prussian civil servant. Most recently he was President of the Rhine Province .

Life

Pommer Esche came from a family from West Pomerania. His father Johann Arnold Joachim Pommer Esche was raised to the Swedish nobility in 1813. One of his brothers was Johann Friedrich von Pommer Esche .

He attended the Stralsund grammar school and studied law and camera science in Göttingen , Berlin and Heidelberg from 1823 to 1826 . He then entered the Prussian judicial service as an auscultator . In 1831 he was appointed assessor at the Berlin Court of Justice. He later switched to administration and in 1831 was an unskilled worker in the Prussian Ministry of the Interior in the trade and commerce department. A year later he switched to the provincial tax administration of the Rhine Province in Cologne as a government assessor . In 1833 he returned to the Ministry of the Interior as a councilor. In 1835 he was appointed to the secret government council of the administration for trade, manufacturing and construction, based in Berlin. Just one year later, Pommer Esche moved to the Ministry of Finance as a secret finance advisor and was a member of the Railway Commission in 1836. In 1839 he was promoted to the secret Oberfinanzrat and had been a member of the Prussian State Council since 1842 . Since 1845 he was Ministerialdirektor in the Ministry of Finance with the rank of a real secret Oberfinanzrat responsible for trade, industry, construction and railways. For a short time he was acting head of the Ministry of Commerce from November 5, 1848. From December 1848 to 1858, Pommer Esche was Undersecretary of State in this . In 1849 he was a member of the first chamber of the Prussian state parliament . Between 1858 and 1871 he was President of the Rhine Province. In 1861 he was appointed the real secret council with the predicate excellence.

He was married to Julie, b. Picht (1820–1903), a daughter of the Gingster pastor Adolph Wilhelm Picht . One of his sons was Albert von Pommer Esche , who later became President of the Province of Saxony .
