Aggie Guerard Rodgers
Agnes Guerard Rodgers (* 26. December 1943 in California as Agnes Ann Guerard ) is an American costume designer .
Life
Aggie Guerard Rodgers studied costume design at California State University, Long Beach, and graduated with a master's degree . Originally trained for the theater, she came to film through George Lucas . At an audition for American Graffiti (1973) she was selected as a costume designer because she was raised in Fresno, California at the time the film was set and accordingly had knowledge of clothing styles in the late 1950s / early 1960s.
Francis Ford Coppola , producer of the film, hired her for Der Dialog the following year . This was followed by the milestone One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975).
She became known to a wider audience in 1983 when she designed the costumes for Return of the Jedi . For this she received a Saturn Award . In 1985 she was nominated for an Oscar for The Color Purple . Other highlights of her career were The Witches of Eastwick (1987), Beetlejuice - An Extraordinary Ghost (1988), Mr. Holland's Opus (1995), Assassination of Richard Nixon (2004) and Rent (2005).
In 2015 she received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Costume Designers Guild .
Aggie Rodgers is married and lives with her husband in San Francisco .
