Agrafa ( pronunciation : [ ˈaɣrafa ], Greek Άγραφα ( n. Pl. )) Is the westernmost municipality in the Greek region of Central Greece . It consists of 88 inhabited villages, hamlets and residential areas, none of which have more than 400 inhabitants. The administrative seat is the village of Kerasochori with 174 inhabitants.
Agrafa is located in the mountains of the same name (for the meaning of the name, see there) and was created by expanding the municipality named after the village of Agrafa , which was last enlarged in 2011 when it was merged with four neighboring municipalities. Up to 1997 there were 32 rural communities (Ez. Gr. Kinotita ) in what is now the municipality.
Agrafa extends in the south-western part of the Agrafa Mountains. In the west, the Acheloos river forms the border with the western Greek municipality of Amfilochia and at the same time separates the Agrafa from the Valtos mountains , in the southwest its tributary, Tavropos or Megdovas, separates Agrafa from the municipality of Karpenisi . Both rivers unite in Lake Kremasta , the largest reservoir in Greece, the area of which Agrafa shares with Amfilochia and the neighboring municipality of Agrinio to the south . The lowest point in the municipality is here at around 300 m above sea level. The northern and northwestern municipal boundary to the Thessaly region runs right through the mountains, here (from west to east) the neighboring communities Argithea , Limni Plastira and Karditsa are located . The Agrafiotis divides the community and the mountains into a western and an eastern part. It flows through the entire municipality from north to south and forms a fjord-like bay at its confluence with the Kremasta Lake. The highest elevations of the municipality are in the western Agrafa Mountains: the summit of Delidimi (Ντελιδίμι, 2163 m ) on the border with Argithea and the Fteri (Φτέρη, 2126 m ) further south, entirely within the municipality. The highest peak of the eastern Agrafa Mountains is the Svoni (Σβώνη, 2042 m ).

Community structure
The 32 municipalities, which existed until 1997, have had the status of local communities (topiki kinotita) since 2011 and elect a council or an individual representative as local representation depending on the number of inhabitants. The population figures come from the results of the 2011 census.
