Ahnepark
The Ahnepark is an urban park in the small town of Vellmar in northern Hesse ( Germany ), north of Kassel .
The amusement park named after the brook ancestor was opened on June 21, 1986, is over 9 hectares (90,000 m² ) in size and is a popular local recreation area .
Geographical location
The Ahnepark is located between the (new) Holländische Straße to the east , which in Vellmar is built like a joint section of the federal highways 7 and 83 , the Ahne flowing along the western edge of the park, a northwestern tributary of the Fulda , and the slightly beyond it (old ) Dutch street . On the northern edge of the park and thus directly above its grounds runs as Landesstraße 3234, Frommershäuser Straße and directly beyond it the little Elsche flows into the ancestor. The Ahnepark built on pasture farm along the ancestor. It consists largely of meadows , trees and shrubs as well as four ancestral ponds , where mainly ducks frolic. When it was created, many old trees and some fruit trees resulting from a former garden area were preserved. The view of the park area can be enjoyed from the specially raised viewing hill. Information about the flora and fauna of the park can be found on several display boards .
A basketball court , a combined tennis and volleyball court , two table tennis courts and a playground for children are available in the park for leisure activities . In the warm season you can attend various events (e.g. concerts on the concert square ) and on some Sundays and public holidays you can take the trains of the miniature steam train system Ahneparkbahn operated by the Vellmar Steam Railway Club . In addition, there are artfully designed sculptures in many places in the park , which are expanded by one or two figures every three years. In the southern part of the park there is a café - restaurant with a lake terrace by one of the ponds with a fountain . If the conditions are favorable in winter, you can skate on a pond .
Find each once a year with a variety of entertainment and events Ahnepark Festival and the Festival Tent Summer in the Park instead, the latter as the local festival Vellmar on the east of the park lying fairground is discharged. Part of the Schäferberg (−Vellmar) −Kassel section of the Märchenlandweg hiking trail in northern Hesse runs through the Ahnepark .
