Aiden McGeady (born April 4, 1986 in Glasgow ) is an Irish football player .
Career
society
McGeady made his professional debut in 2004 with the traditional Scottish club Celtic Glasgow , for whom he played in his youth. In his first appearance in the Scottish Premier League on April 25, 2004, he scored his first goal in the away game at Heart of Midlothian . McGeady was named the best young player on the Celtic squad in 2005 and 2006.
McGeady was handicapped by a sustained knee injury during the 2005-06 season, but he played a significant role in Celtic's second season under Gordon Strachan . The team won the title and McGeady helped with five goals this season. The 2007-08 season went better for McGeady, which earned him a lot of media praise. The team won the derby against the Rangers 3-2 and successfully defended the title. During the whole season he contributed a total of eight goals to the title win.
In August 2010 McGeady joined the Russian first division club Spartak Moscow .
On January 10, 2014 McGeady moved to Everton FC , where he received a contract until June 30, 2018. In February 2016 it was awarded to Sheffield Wednesday until the end of the season .
National team
Despite being a native of Scots, McGeady decided to play for the Irish national team in 2004 , thanks to his Irish ancestors. He made his international debut on November 16, 2004 in a 1-0 win over Croatia .
At the European Football Championship in France in 2016 , he was included in Ireland's squad. He was substituted on in the closing stages of all three group matches. The team qualified for the round of 16, but where it was not used. Ireland lost to France and was eliminated.
Style of play
McGeady is particularly known for his so-called "McGeady Spin", a trick that gained popularity through him. He often uses it on the goal line to achieve a better flank position.
