The Ailsbach or Aßbach is a 19 km long right tributary of the lower Püttlach in Franconian Switzerland in Bavaria with its longer left upper course .
geography
Headwaters
The Ailsbach arises northwest of Ahorntal -Freiahorn at 394.7 m above sea level. NHN through the confluence of the right Körzendorfer Bach and the left Gereuther Aßbach , both of which arise not far from each other on the north-eastern edge of the so-called Ahorntal valley, which is bordered by mountain ranges. The Gereuther Aßbach, together with its main source branch, the Pulvergraben, has the greater length, while the Körzendorfer Bach covers the larger part of the catchment area through the Vogelsbach, which flows into it late from the right.
course
The Ailsbach, initially also called Aßbach, flows in the southern inflow direction of the Körzendorfer Bach past Freiahorn and then immediately turns onto the southwest. He takes at 387 m above sea level. NHN opens the Harbach from the west, flows past Christanz on the left and then past the Kirchahorn parish seat on the right bank and receives its last open tributary at the Schweinsmühle through the Gartentalbach coming from the north.
Afterwards it enters its narrow valley in the karstified White Jura , where only dry valleys converge from the water-rich Ahorntal, which is formed in the central part of the Black Jura , on the ring of the Braunjura . From the largest town of Oberailsfeld in this longer section, it is only called Ailsbach. Shortly thereafter, he moved to the municipality of Markt Gößweinstein in the Forchheim district . After the village of Unterailsfeld on the left side of the river, he turns to the completely uninhabited, still about three kilometers long southern run. At the end of it it flows to about 323 m above sea level. NHN near Behringersmühle from the right into the Püttlach coming from the east , which flows into the Wiesent there .
The entire strand of the Ailsbach from Pulvergraben, Gereuther Aßbach and finally Ailsbach itself is 19.1 km long and flows about 180 meters below the powder pit source called Pulverbrunnen, which corresponds to a mean bed gradient of about 9.4 ‰.
Catchment area
The catchment area of the Ailsbach covers almost 55 km². In terms of natural space, it is entirely located in the Doggersandstein-Alb sub -area of the Northern Franconian Alb . Being at 613 m above sea level NHN's highest point is the summit of the plate with an observation tower near Hohenmirsberg, roughly at the center of the southeastern watershed.
In turn, the catchment areas of the following neighboring waters are adjacent:
- On the north side of the left main strand upper reaches dewatered Weides the Truppach the other ridge side, which at the top to Wiesent dewatered.
- The long northwest side runs almost parallel to the Zeubach as far as the White Mountain near Waischenfeld -Hannberg , which then flows further down to the Wiesent.
- In the further course of the long north-western and then the shorter western watershed almost to the mouth, the Wiesent itself runs close to the outside, without taking in any open tributaries from the divide.
- in the south-east there is a very long catchment area of the upper reaches of the Püttlach from the mouth of the Ailsbach to almost up to the source of the Pütlach, which has only a few tributaries in the first half to the Hohenmirsberger Platte, then more to about Hummeltal- Muthmannsreuth, but just as short tributaries receives from the ridge.
- Behind the northwestern sheath near the summit of the Hohen Manne ( 577 m above sea level ) lies the upper catchment area of the mistletoe , which flows into the Red Main ; This only short piece of the total watershed, as part of the watershed between Obermain and Regnitz, is therefore its most hydrologically important section.
