Albert Cajetan Magnus Lengsfeld , von Lengsfeld since 1861 , (born September 6, 1803 in Siewierz , † August 27, 1866 in Prague ) was the Prussian major general and inspector of the 2nd artillery inspection.

His parents were the higher regional judge Karl Lengsfeld and his wife Juliane, née Vetter.

Career

Lengsfeld joined the 5th Artillery Brigade of the Prussian Army on September 10, 1820 as a gunner . In 1820/21 he was assigned to the brigade school and on November 12, 1821 appointed portepeef ensign. In 1822/24 he was assigned to the United and Artillery and Engineering School and in the meantime rose to the position of Second Lieutenant . For further training, Lengsfeld completed the General War School from October 1829 , which he had to leave prematurely on December 1, 1830 due to the mobilization . He saved several gunners from danger to their lives and in addition, under his direction, Oder breaks were prevented twice. For this he received the Red Eagle Order IV class on February 27, 1833 . For the great autumn exercise of 1835 he was assigned to the General Command of the V Army Corps .

Promoted to Prime Lieutenant on June 27, 1837 , he was in command of the 7th Hussar Regiment for one year from October 1838 . On March 12, 1844, he was transferred to the 8th Artillery Brigade as captain and company commander . During the suppression of the Baden Revolution , he was in command of the six-pounder battery No. 38 and took part in the battles near Kuppenheim, Wiesenthal and Neudorf. On January 1, 1853 he came to Stettin as an artillery officer , but on June 18, 1853 he became a major in the General Staff of the 3rd Division . In addition, Lengsfeld was active from July 19, 1853 as President of the Examination Commission of the United Division Schools of the 3rd and 4th Division . On October 30, 1855 he was transferred to the General Staff of the 1st Army Corps and from May to June 1857 he was assigned to the 1st Infantry Regiment . Subsequently, on June 18, 1857, he was appointed Chief of Staff of the General Inspection of the Artillery and a member of the Artillery Examination Commission. On July 2, 1857, he also became a member of the examination board for prime lieutenants of the artillery.

On May 22nd, 1858 Lengsfeld became lieutenant colonel and on April 21st, 1859 with the Red Eagle Order III. Excellent class with swords on rings. On October 13, 1859, he was appointed commander of the 1st Artillery Regiment and on July 1, 1860, he was promoted to colonel . On the occasion of the coronation of King Wilhelm I , Lengsfeld was raised to the hereditary Prussian nobility on October 18, 1861 .

On January 24, 1863, he was appointed commander of the Wesel Fortress, with a position à la suite . This was followed from June 2, 1863 to June 24, 1864 as a brigadier of the 5th Artillery Brigade. Subsequently, Lengsfeld was appointed as a major general commander of the 5th Field Artillery Brigade in Poznan . On May 19, 1866 he became inspector of the 2nd Artillery Inspection. During the mobilization on the occasion of the German War , Lengsfeld was commander of the artillery of the 1st Army in 1866 and took part in the battles near Podol , Münchengrätz , Gitschin and Königgrätz . He died of cholera in Prague in 1866 .

His department commander wrote in his assessment in 1847: “Moral leadership very good, fulfills his duties with great conscientiousness and with the greatest success, but cannot be absolved of a great sensitivity which makes him a subordinate to be difficult to treat. Combines with a lot of practical and professional knowledge a very good scientific education. Suitable for any position and for transportation except for the tour. "

He married Elisabeth von Derenthall (1833–1908) in Berlin on December 17, 1861. The marriage remained childless.
