Aleksandar Rašić ( Serbian - Cyrillic Александар Рашић ; born March 16, 1984 in Šabac , SR Serbia ) is a Serbian basketball player . Rašić has so far played for various top clubs across Europe and with KK Partizan and FMP Železnik has won the championship of the Adriatic Basketball League a total of four times and the national championships of his home country twice. He was also German champion in 2008 with Alba Berlin and Italian champion in 2013 with Montepaschi Siena . After further stints in Turkey and Romania , Rašić won the Serbian cup competition in 2016 with KK Mega Leks and reached the final of the ABA league .

Career

In his youth Rašić played for FMP Železnik from Belgrade . 2003 began his professional career at KK Borac from Čačak , but during the season he returned to FMP Železnik. With this club he won the Adria League in 2004 and 2006 and was national cup winner in 2005. At the end of the 2006/07 season he moved in April 2007 to the Turkish club Efes Pilsen from Istanbul , with whom he lost the final games of the Turkish championship against Fenerbahçe Ülker . In 2007 he signed an initial contract with Dynamo in Russia's Moscow , but moved in November 2007 to the German club Alba Berlin. Due to a knee injury, however, he failed for the play-offs of the 2007/08 season , in which Alba won the German championship. Rašić returned to Serbia and signed with Partizan Belgrade . With this club he won the Adria League again in 2008 and 2009 and reached the " Final Four " of the ULEB Euroleague 2009/10 , where they finished fourth after two very narrow defeats.

Rašić took part in the 2004 European Championship with the U-20 national team, where they lost just one point in the quarter-finals against host Israel and ended up in fifth place. It was not until 2010 that he was in a final squad of the Serbian national team for the first time , with which he lost the bronze medal game against the Lithuanian national basketball team at the 2010 World Cup in Turkey , after previously losing to the hosts with one point in a dramatic game in the semifinals was. Rašić then stayed in the country and moved to the Turkish first division promoted Medical Park from Trabzon . After a qualification for the championship play-offs was no longer possible, he left the club before the end of the season and joined the Lithuanian club Lietuvos rytas from Vilnius in March 2011 , who at the end of the season as defending champion in the finals for the national championship against Žalgiris Kaunas lost. At the 2011 European Championships in Lithuania, Serbia was eliminated in the quarterfinals this time, while Rašić stopped playing in the second round due to injury. Without Rašić, Lietuvos rytas surprisingly lost the final in the qualifying tournament for the ULEB Euroleague 2011/12 against Galatasaray Istanbul , which was sponsored by Medical Park, the former sponsor of his former club from Trabzon. At the end of the season they reached third place in the Final Four of the Eurocup 2011/12 and were eliminated in the semifinals of the Eastern European VTB United League 2011/12 . In the Baltic Basketball League and the national championship Lietuvos rytas reached the finals, but both were lost again to the Žalgiris Kaunas.

After Rašić was already at the center of transfer considerations in January 2012, which brought him in connection with the later Euroleague winner Olympiacos under the Serbian national coach Dušan Ivković , he moved to the Italian series champion Mens Sana Basket in Siena , Tuscany , for the 2012/13 season . with which he could defend the Italian championship. However, this title was revoked again in 2016. After a good start, they were eliminated in the intermediate round of the ULEB Euroleague 2012/13 before the knockout games . After the end of the season, the Siena's team broke up after the club's financial problems and Rašić moved back to Turkey, where he played for TED Kolejliler from the capital Ankara in the 2013/14 season .
