Aleksandrs Jerofejevs (born April 12, 1984 in Riga , Latvian SSR ) is a Latvian ice hockey player who has been under contract with HK Prizma Riga in the Latvian ice hockey league since August 2018 .
Career
Aleksandrs Jerofejevs began his career as a hockey player in his hometown at HK Nik's Brih Riga , for whose first team he was active in the Latvian ice hockey league in the 1999/2000 season . He then spent three years with his league rivals Stalkers / Juniors Daugavpils , before playing for HK Liepājas Metalurgs in the Latvian Ice Hockey League and the international East European Hockey League in the 2003/04 season. From 2004 to 2006 he played one season each for the Sioux Fall Stampede in the junior league United States Hockey League , as well as the Roanoke Valley Vipers from the lower-class professional league United Hockey League . There the Latvian national player managed to attract attention with 33 points in 61 games, so that he was signed by Ilves Tampere from the Finnish SM-liiga . After only six games in which he remained pointless, however, he moved to HK Aquacity ŠKP Poprad from the Slovak extra league, where he ended the season.
For the 2007/08 season Jerofejevs signed with the reigning Czech champions HC Sparta Prague , with whom he failed at the European level only in the final of the IIHF European Champions Cup against the Russian opponent HK Metallurg Magnitogorsk . After he had started the following season in Prague, he accepted the offer of Neftechimik Nizhnekamsk from the newly founded Continental Hockey League , with which he was defeated in the first round of the playoffs for the Gagarin Cup to the eventual finalist Lokomotive Yaroslavl . In the 2009/10 and 2010/11 season the Latvian was under contract with Metallurg Novokuznetsk in the KHL. In September 2011 he was hired by Timrå IK from the Swedish Elitserien , where he initially received a try-out contract, from which he was released after nine days.
In December 2011 he received a contract with HC Slovan Bratislava from the Slovak Extraliga and subsequently played 31 games for Slovan, winning the championship with Slovan before moving to HK Kuban Krasnodar in the Wysschaja Hockey League in July 2012 . A year later he was obliged by KHL newcomer Admiral Vladivostok , but was only used in the second division of the partner team Neftjanik Almetyevsk .
Between 2014 and 2018 Jerofejevs played at Dinamo Riga in the Continental Hockey League before moving to HK Prizma Riga in August 2018 .
International
For Latvia , Jerofejevs took part in the U20 Junior B World Championships in 2004 , as well as in the Senior World Championships in 2006 , 2007 , 2008 , 2009 and 2010 . Furthermore, he was in his country's squad to qualify for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver .
