Alexei Alexandrow ( Russian Алексей Геннадьевич Александров ; Belarusian Аляксей Аляксандраў / Aljaksej Aljaksandrau ; English Alexei Alexandrov ; born May 11, 1973 ) is a Belarusian chess master .

Life

Alexandrow celebrated his first international success in 1991 when he shared second place with Konstantin Sakajew (behind Vladimir Kramnik ) at the U18 Youth World Cup in Guarapuava . A year later he was in Terneuzen-Sas van Gent European Youth Champion U20, in the following year, finally shared second (with Alexander Onischuk ) at the European Youth Championships U18 in Vejen (after Wladislaw Borowikow ). 1997 awarded him FIDE the Grandmaster title . In 2000 he won the silver medal at the European Championships in Saint-Vincent . In 1989, 1990, 1996, 2007, 2018 and 2019 he won the championship of Belarus.

Alexandrow won numerous shared and sole first prizes at international tournaments , including in Nikolajew 1993 ( zone tournament ), Stockholm 1995, Spasskoje 1996, Minsk 1996, Gistrup 1996, Kstowo 1998, Saint Petersburg 2000, Bad Wörishofen Chess Festival 2001, Dubai 2001, Moscow ( Aeroflot Open 2002 and 2003,) Minsk 2005, Saratov 2007. In Warsaw 2007 Alexandrov won the European championship in rapid chess .

Four times he took part in the FIDE World Championship in the knockout system . In 1997 in Groningen he advanced to the third round, where he failed to Zurab Asmaiparashvili . In 1999 in Las Vegas he was defeated by Pyotr Swidler in the second round , in 2000 in New Delhi he lost in the third round to Yevgeny Bareev , and in 2004 in Tripoli Hikaru Nakamura beat him in the second round.

National team

From 1996 to 2008 he took part in all seven Chess Olympiads for Belarus and led his team on the first board three times. His eighth participation followed in 2014 . At the 1998 Olympics , he received the bronze medal for his result on the first board. In 1992, 1997, 1999 and 2003 he was a member of the national team at the European Team Championships .

In the Russian team championship , Aljaksandrau played in 2000 for TsEM Smolensk , in 2002 for ShK Tomsk , 2004 to 2006 for Ural Oblast Sverdlovsk , with which he became champions in 2006, in 2008 for Spasio Moscow and since 2013 for Beloretschensk University . Aljaksandrau played in the Spanish team championship from 2007 to 2009 and again in 2011 for CCA CajaCanarias Santa Cruz and became champions with them in 2008 , in the Bosnian Premijer Liga he played in 2003 for ŠK Kiseljak . At the European Club Cup Aljaksandrau took five times in part, namely in 2002 with the SK alkaloid Skopje , 2003 with the ŠK Kiseljak , with whom he finished third, 2004 for FC Ural Sverdlovsk Oblast , in 2005, scored when he was the third best individual result on the fifth board, for Southern Urals in Chelyabinsk and in 2015, when he achieved the best result among reserve players, for Belorechensk University .
