In the battle of Königgrätz he threw himself with his regiment - on which occasion he himself fought on the front line - when the enemy cavalry burst down from the heights in pursuit of the Austrian infantry, and forced the 3rd division into a brilliant attack The Prussian Dragoon Regiment took hold and threw back the 11th Uhlan Regiment, which had rushed to support the Prussians to flee. This made it possible for the infantry, who were retreating in this direction, to cross the Elbe without being disturbed. After taking part in a successful attack against opposing cavalry and deterring the enemy from continuing the pursuit, he rifled his regiment in the fiercest fire and later marched back slowly and orderly. In recognition of his bravery and these services, which are expressly mentioned in the nobility diploma, he was awarded the Order of the Iron Crown 3rd Class with War Decoration (KD.) On October 3, 1866 . Likewise, on January 22, 1867, with a diploma in Vienna on March 22, 1867, he was raised to the Austrian knighthood with the title of Klumberg.
