Alice Sophia Eve (born February 6, 1982 in London ) is a British actress .

life and career

Eve was born to actors Trevor Eve and Sharon Maughan . She has two younger brothers, Jack and George, and grew up in the UK and Los Angeles . She attended Bedales School and completed her A-Level at Westminster School in London . During her gap years she studied at the Beverly Hills Playhouse and English at St Catherine's College, Oxford . During her time at Oxford she played in student productions such as An Ideal Husband and Animal Crackers (musical) .

Eve began her career in BBC television films such as The Rotters' Club , Poirot and Hawking, as well as a small role in Stage Beauty (2004). In 2006 she played a major role in the films: Starter for 10 and Big Nothing . In the same year she worked on the miniseries drama Losing Gemma , which deals with backpacking . Also in 2006 she appeared in Rock 'n' Roll , a new play by Tom Stoppard at the Royal Court Theater, and repeated her role in 2007 when the play was performed on Broadway . She was nominated for Best Supporting Actress at the Whatsonstage.com Theatregoers' Choice Awards for her performance . In 2009 she played Roxane in a play about Cyrano de Bergerac at the Chichester Festival Theater . In the film Crossing Over , she played the role of the Australian immigrant Claire Shepard . In 2010, the US film Too Sharp To Be True (in which her parents played the role of the parents of her character) was released. She can also be seen in the 2010 film Sex and the City 2 , in which she plays a nanny . In 2012 she played the female lead in the film adaptation of Edgar Allan Poe's The Raven . In Star Trek Into Darkness (2013) she played the role of Dr. Carol Marcus. Further film and television appearances followed. In 2018 she starred in the series Marvel's Iron Fist and starred in Replicas alongside Keanu Reeves .
