The 1999/2000 season was the first season of the Allsvenskan as the second highest Swedish ice hockey division .

mode

The league was divided into two groups of twelve teams each in the main round. The four best-placed teams in each group qualified for the Superallsvenskan, whose two best-placed teams qualified directly for the Kvalserien . The remaining eight teams of each Allsvenskan main round had to compete in a relegation round, with both main round groups also performing their own relegation rounds. According to their main round placement, the teams received between zero and seven bonus points for the relegation round. The two best teams of the two relegation rounds as well as the teams in places 3 to 6 of the Superallsvenskan qualified for the play-offs. In these two other participants were played for the Kval series. In this they met the last two of the Elitserien , with the first two of the Kvalserien were allowed to compete in the Elitserien in the following season.

Each team received three points for a win after regular time, two points for a win after overtime, one point for a loss after overtime and zero points for a defeat after regular time.

Kvalseries

The Kvalserien 2000 took place between March 22nd and April 14th, 2000. The six participants met twice on a total of 10 match days. The games took place in front of up to 5,800 spectators. Ultimately, Timrå IK and IF Björklöven prevailed and rose to the Elitserien. The Västerås IK and Linköpings HC were determined to be relegated .
