In the main round, the 14 teams play 52 games each. Since the Svenska Hockeyligan will increase the number of participants from twelve to 14 for the coming season, there will be significant changes in the determination of the promoted players. The teams in the first two places after the main season compete against each other in the HockeyAllsvenska finals in a best-of-five series, with the winner being promoted directly to the first division. Meanwhile, the clubs on ranks three to eight in the Slutspelsserien determine the participants in the relegation games, where the last two of the Svenska Hockeyligan and the loser of the HockeyAllsvenska finals wait as opponents. The respective winner qualifies for the upcoming season of the Swedish elite class. The last two places in the main round must compete in the relegation round against the four best teams in hockey , with the top four being allowed to play in the HockeyAllsvenskan in the following season.
Each team receives three points for a win after regular playing time, two points for a win after overtime or shootout, one point for a loss after overtime or shootout and zero points for a loss after normal playing time.
