Kevin Mitchell (born June 5, 1980 in New York City , New York ) is an American ice hockey player who was last under contract with the EC Graz 99ers in the EBEL .

Career

Mitchell began his career in 1997 in the Ontario Hockey League with the Guelph Storm . By good performance, the Calgary Flames became aware of the offensive defender and secured the rights to him in the ninth round of the 1998 NHL Entry Draft in 234th place. After three seasons he moved to the Oshawa Generals and also played some games for the Hamilton Bulldogs in the American Hockey League .

For the 2001/02 season, the full step into professional ice hockey took place. Mitchell initially played for three years in the minor leagues . His stations were in the East Coast Hockey League, the Louisiana IceGators and the Houston Eros , Bridgeport Sound Tigers and Cleveland Barons in the AHL. In the 2004/05 season he played for the Iserlohn Roosters and formed a defense with offensive qualities, especially with Martin Knold . He spent the next season with the Vienna Capitals and one year later moved again to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. Towards the end of the 2006/07 season , the Hamburg Freezers signed him . Also for the following season he changed club and league again. Mitchell went to HDD Olimpija Ljubljana in the EBEL . After he had already signed with Black Wings Linz for the 2008/09 season , he later decided to stay with Olimpija Ljubljana. The Black Wings agreed to Mitchell's plan after paying a transfer fee . At the end of January 2009 Mitchell was signed by the Rapperswil-Jona Lakers from the National League A for the rest of the season. Mitchell then returned to HC Pardubice before being transferred to HDD Olimpija Ljubljana in late 2009. From 2010 to 2012 he worked for the EC VSV . In the summer of 2012, he switched to the Italian A1 series , where he signed with Ritten Sport . From 2013 to 2015 he worked at Mora IK in HockeyAllsvenskan . In the 2015/16 season he played for the EC Graz 99ers .

Mitchell is known for his extremely hard shot. He has already scored several goals from outside the attacking third , including in the 2004/05 season when he overcame the then lockout player Ty Conklin from the Grizzly Adams Wolfsburg , and in the 2008 EBEL final when he defeated Reinhard Divis from EC Red Bull Salzburg met. At the EBEL All Star Game 2008 , he once again demonstrated his shooting power with a top speed of 159 km / h.
