Alonsotegi ( Basque ) or Alonsótegui ( Spanish ) is a municipality in the province of Biscay in the Spanish Autonomous Region of the Basque Country . 2907 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2019) live in an area of ​​16 km², the majority of whom are Spanish-speaking.

Alonsotegi

Alonsotegi is eight kilometers from the provincial capital, Bilbao , with which it is connected by an expressway. The municipality is also located on the FEVE railway line that runs from Bilbao to León .

The mountainous surroundings of Alonsotegi with peaks of up to 998 meters (Ganekogorta, Pagasarri and Sasiburu) and the Cadagua River flowing through the municipality represent a local recreation area for the greater Bilbao area.
