Amanda Balding (born Amanda Louise Balding on April 6, 1977 in Lake Grace , Western Australia ; later Amanda Balding-McKenzie ) is a former Australian triathlete .
Career
Amanda Balding grew up in Manjimup in an extended family of thirteen sisters and brothers.
She started walking for Australia as a teenager for a few years and started triathlon in 2000.
After a cancer diagnosis in 2003, she changed her life fundamentally - her dream was to successfully take part in a long-distance triathlon (3.86 km swimming, 180.2 km cycling and 42.195 km running). In October6 2007 the 25-year-old finished 51.6 at the Ironman Hawaii (Ironman World Championships).
She was married to triathlete Luke Jarrod McKenzie from October 2010 to March 2013 . Their nicknames are Memphis or Grub .
